Imago Mortis
was born from the dark side of Abibial (bass/voice) and Maelstrom (guitar)
the night of Samonios in 1994.
From the
beginning the Black Metal is the way of expression of the band, through
which they explore the obscure side of soul. For this reason, still
today, they can be considered one of the most radical and traditionalist
band that celebrates the occult verb.
On January 1995
Hezrel joined them as second guitarist. In the same year several
drummers were tested but they were all rejected for lack of devotion. In
spite of these difficulties, Imago Mortis continued with care their
work. They gave birth to many songs and the entry of a motivate drummer,
Fenrir in 1997, let them to improve their black mood.
Then the band
started a concrete activity with live shows, up to recording their first
demo tape "Malleus Maleficarum" professionally produced in 300 copies.
The demo tape received good reviews in the italian and foreign
underground. Thanks to this success, the band obtained to participate in
many compilation on tape and Cd. |

One year
later, in 1999, Imago Mortis created the second demo tape "Danza
Macabra" limited to 33 copies, that reconfirmed the band. Two tracks
from this demo tape appear on the Cd compilation "Screams from Italy
vol. V" and "Ordinis Reliquiae vol. I". At the end of the year
Hezrel decided to leave the band.
In 2000 the
live tape "Daemoni Vivunt", containing an unreleased song, was
issued in 88 copies by T.R.P. Laarin joined Imago Mortis as second
guitarist. In winter 2001 they created the demo/album "Mors
Triumphalis" in Cd-r version. The underground label Drakkar
Productions (France) decided to republish it on tape, with two bonus
tracks, in 300 copies (DK033).
In 2002
Maelstrom left Imago Mortis. The band composed of three members gave
birth to other songs collected in "Brixheim" split cd.
They were
also invited to take part in the Italian Black Metal Festival "Black
Celtic Summit III".
On November
2002 Heltron joined the band as second guitarist. Then Imago Mortis
covered Burzum's "Et Hvitt Lys Over Skogen", that appears on the
italian tribute "Burzum, a man, a band, a symbol" issued in 2004 by
the underground label Wotan Reich (r.i.p.) in pro Cd-r version,
limited to 500 copies.
On July
2004 they recorded the promo "Black Arctic Sun". On September Laarin
left Imago Mortis replaced by Scighéra.
In
the spring 2007 Heltron decides to leave the Imago Mortis for deep
personal motivations, he was replaced by the guitarist Faust. On
December 2007 Drakkar Producions realizes "Mors Triumphalis" on cd
version containing the homonym demo/album, the rare demo "Danza
Macabra" and bonus tracks.
In April 2008 Imago Mortis decide to split with Fenrir. Bjorgor is
the name of the new Imago Mortis drummer.
The horde continues its battle with Drakkar Productions.
